Inhabitants of the island, which are tired with their outlandish nurslings, just opened their doors and let monkeys
go away. Monkeys breed like rats. Very soon we can confront with the problem of mass apparition of stray monkeys
Tulla Poadgy, the chairman of the Society for Protection against brutal treatment of the animals in Cyprus,
claimed. And she added: Besides different serious diseases, transmittable to humans, the monkeys can be highly
aggressive and dangerous as they simply cannot live close by people. These wild animals donī blend with the
natural environment of Cyprus at all. People saw these neglected monkeys in Troodos mountains and in some other
localities of the island.
In connection with this, Society representatives have already got in touch with authorities, veterinarians and with the
Department of Agriculture, where they were promised that this problem will be resolved. And by now Cyprus
inhabitants are strongly recommended to refuse buying exotic animals, which are delivered to the island in hundreds.
